Need a Spot
Again thanks for the help with the part ID.

I've looked all over the internet and I can find anything that'll tell me the redline on a stock 20R engine? I don't know if other trucks come with tachs, but mine doesn't have one (Stock 1980 Toy 4x4 w/manual 4 speed). I know the max HP is at 4800rpm, and the heads have enough flow to support 6500rpm, but I seriously doubt that's red line on this old motor. I ask so I can set my Street Fire Ignition about 500 RPM below redline so I should never go over, plus install a digital tach.

Thanks in adavnce!

Probably OK like that, may have been bent to adjust it or perhaps from the spare tire sliding forward into the rod. Should not have much affect on the length.

Unless I'm mistaken, I'm pretty sure they're all bent like that specifically to clear the spare tire. I don't think the spare banging around would have put such an even bend in it, anyway.

I was thinking the same thing. Just give the entire brake system a good bleed/purge to get rid of the old brake fluid and see how she does.

Nice score! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

The rod in my '85 4Runner was pretty much straight front-back, it did have something of bend in the up-down direction. But it has been about 12 years since I yanked that rod out of there.

Maybe the pickups are set up a little different.

THIS. Bent from factory on some vehicles. IIRC, all of the Gen2 4Runners w/ the 31" tire package were bent around the tire. Can't recall my 1st gen pickup or 4Runner(s).

The 3rd gen trucks also had the fuel tank move from the right to the left. Just tossing that out there.

Thank You! I'm currently waiting for the Street Fire Ignition to get back from RMA and I have to install a new fuel pump and start the motor before I really start spending money on it.

Currently the drum brakes were locked up so while I waited for the RMA I cleaned and adjusted them along with tear down the front brakes for the next project. The truck need alot of TLC and I do have plans for it. Fix some rust spots, install a radio and speakers, upgrade to vented brakes and find new seats or have them re-upholstred.

Here's some crappy cell phone pics.
