Seems my clockspring has gone south. My cruise stopped working. My cute little air-bag light has lit up my dash, and then my horn stopped working.. So I have all three signals the clockspring isn't with us anymore.
Found a new MOPAR one on the eBay for $160 delivered.. So I went for it.
Seems like a fairly easy task from looking and thinking of it. My only question might be what size bolt it will take to attach the puller to the wheel? I do have an assortment, but that is here at the shop and the damn TJ is 300 miles away. So I guess I'll take a few of these and a few of those. A nightmare would be if the threads aren't SAE! I don't have MM puller bolts.
While I'm at it I'll pull the dash bezel and pull the lighter which has found it's way into the void behind the dash.
I had to purchase two aftermarket lighters to get two brackets which I will form into two WASHERS here at the shop. Then I will superglue one on each side of the now enlarged hole in the dash and install the lighter back in place.
I did install both the aftermarket fan clutch and a genuine MOPAR thermostat last week.. The damn thing still ran a bit too hot. I observed quite a lot of grass seed tops in the A/C condensor so I put a vacuume on it and the thing seemed to do well after that.. However the temp was 15* cooler that day also. So we will see!
