Need a Spot
I'm not to interested in spending the money on doing the lift "yet" considering I live in Chicago which is mostly flat roads and about 0% of my driving is done off road... But that said I do want a slight appearance of meaty tires so I was looking at General Grabbers and was curious if I can fit 215/75/15 or can it only take the exact oem size of 205's..... I went through the main lift sticky and gave up after about an hour to see if this was mentioned already...

What is the largest tire size I can fit on my completely stock, 2000 sportage 2 dr. 4x4

Body Damage is Cool
I ran 215/75/15 for years before I did my lift, no isues at all. No rubbing, no power loss and no MPG increase. Looked good on a stock Sporty also.

205/75/15 OE
215/75/15 1 step up
225/75/15 2 steps up
235/75/15 3 steps up Stock for many small suv's/trucks

Can also go wider and maintain OE height with
225/70/15 Stock size for Ford Escapes. I did this with mine and it cornered soo much better than oe.. I used continental truck/suv.

Or go a tad higher and max width on stock rim with
235/70/15 won't find an suv/truck style tire. this is usually a street race tire size for hot rods

simple tire size math.. 1st oe numer is 205. that's 205mm tire width. the next number is 75.. 75% width=sidewal height. the 15" is obviously rim size. so to go from 205/75/15 to 215/75/15 is 1 step higher and wider. 225/75/15 is 2 steps higher and wider. 235/75/15 is the 3rd step higher and wider. All threse will work. 235/70/15's rub on mine (just hard turns/bumps.. livable), but that's cause they are mud tires.. same size in an all-terrain probably would clear. We also have an entire thread devoted to tires and lifts at the top of this forum. Have a read through and ask away there.

By "spring spacers", do they mean the type of spacer that actually threads in between the coils of the spring? Everet's spacers bolt to the top of the strut assembly. There is a difference.. Everet's might be legal for you.

01 Convertible; Electric Fan; 3" Up Your Kia lift spacers; Tj 104's; 31x10.5x15's on Centerlines; Rear LSD.
GONE, all I have left are a few spare parts and the wheels.

I have sold a couple of kits to guys in Maine. Biggest problem with them was rust!!
Spacer sits on top of the strut.
Hope that this info helps.

The 235/75/15's will rub on tight turns. Not sure what they rub on since I put my lift on shortly after I put the tires on. Didn't sound too serious though. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Check the underside of your front bumper. Most guys rub there and they just trim it away with a knife or dremel.
