The truck is burning about a quart every 500 to 700 miles. I thought it just needed new valve seals. Its currently at the dealer gettting a new t belt, pulley, plug wires and plugs, fuel filter and hoses. Sounds like the burning oil is more serious. It it leaking oil into the wire and plugs. Put if I fix that leak, will it stop the burning of the oil and the white smoke? Is the engine shot and am I just throwing good money after bad with t-belt etc?

It won't fix the leaking valve stem seals, but it should cut way down on the oil usage. I'd finish the work and just add oil as needed. Engine is still pretty sound...

I have just been adding oil as needed. The prob is that next year ill need to pass emission here in Az. And I serioulsy doubt it pass with the amount of smoke coming out. Dealer called back and stated he is going to try and cut me a deal to work the valve job into the other work Will see.

The 24V SOHC's have seals at the spark plug wire tubes that go down to the plugs. These leak after time and get the plug wires oily. Replace the seal and wires and you shouls be good to go with that.

It is not related to the white smoke. You'll need to replace the Valve guide seals to fix that.
