Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys, I'm trying to locate some basic specs on IH Scout 80's & 800...such as
Wheelbase:
Length:
Width:
Height:
Weight:
HP: both Slant 4 and Inline 6.

I'm also curious if the interior storage space (no rear seat) is closer to a Jeep Wranger (just 12 cu/ft) or if it is closer to a Scout 2 (? cu/ft)

I'm trying to decide if the Scout 80/800 has enough space inside for camping gear and fire wood. I dont want to tow a trailer if I can avoid it.

I think these little machines are great looking, and I just want to run the numbers so to speak.

Thanks.

WANTED: 1989-1991 Isuzu Trooper or Mitsubishi Montero, V6, Manual 5-speed, 4 door, Stock, Good looking in and out, runner/driver good. PM w/ info please.

They were good vehicles for their day. Finding one and maintaining it is a different story.

Those models were in production between 1960 to 1971. The Scout II ended their production in 1980.

If you want something for camping, look for the Wrangler JK or the 4Runner.

Need a Spot
I can get more firewood in my Scout than I can in the wifes TJ. In fact, I think I can get more firewood in my fireplace than in the wifes TJ.

Wow! A post in the IH section!

I had a 75 Pacer that held a great deal of wood, but not as much as my 1-ton Dodge. All things are relative. The Montero SWB has the same wheel base as a CJ-7, Wrangler (YJ/TJ), but like the Scout, the seating position relative to the front axle is farther forward than the Jeep models and this creates more space behind the seats for stuff.

The Forum lives.

I prolly could have went out and measured the Scout but I figured the OP wasn't payin' attention anymore.
