FYI... My diesel truck came with a drivers window that did exactly as you described. The big gears on the window mechanism were stripped. I pulled the door panel, and unbolted the regulator, got one out of my parts rig, and put that one in there.

SO... you need a new regulator.

the visor i affixed last night is holding up very well so at least while i hunt down a regulator nothing will get in the window.
