Personally, I am not a fan of the Confer mounts. Nor do I like the look of the Blitz holders.

The weak point is the clamp to the can at the handle point. I have lost a couple of cans where the handle weld has broken.

got any pictures of this ????

No because I came across this issue about 15 years ago and have since changed my gas can mounting strategy.

Basically, the Confer mount depends on the can riding on a groove on the bottom of the mount with a clamp over the top handle of the can. I still have one mounted on my Jeep but do have a Velcro strap that I run around the can and behind the mount to provide a safety support and take the vibration strain off the upper clamp.

With the Blitz holder, I have found that the metal is weak and need a support under the bottom. A picture posted provides proof of that weakness. And, there is no real supportive framework to keep vibrations down and the can in a secure position.

My optimum solution is for a can mount that is integrated with the tire carrier. And, the can mount has a solid base with a "cage" that allows the can to be strapped into position and weight is carried by the base support and a stabilizing strap coming from a solid point down across the can to its mounting base.

Check http://www.wildernessracks.com/ for ideas. Personally, I am a fan of Garvin Wilderness Racks.
