Body Damage is Cool

And it shows.

Those Adventure Trailers could be built cheaper if one had the time and skills. The suspension is the real value in the setup. The trailer needs to be able to traverse any obstacle the truck does in overland travel. [/quote]like the you squirt-em car wash <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Mikie, I like your trailer for what it is, but I want a lot of living needs utility in a package I can drag back into wrecker range on the frame if necessary. Back to where your trailer is parked so I could hook up the mig and fix it instead of double battery welding with coathanger wire or unravelled steel tire cord....

I think a jeep trailer with a frame supporting a top tent, with a gi hitch with a twist spring tongue and a longtravel suspension, with sway bar disco, could be built pretty nice for 3grand, or just find the now bankrupt owner of one of the recent fancy rigs....

Here's a huge list of camper trailers made here in OZ.
http://www.campertrailers.org/manufacturers.htm

They are very expensive (everything here is). Most have a pop up/out tent.

Back in the U.S. I have a nearly standard 4X8 utility trailer. It has electric brakes, a 50 gallon fuel tank over the axle, carries two 40lb gas bottles on the front and has a double (trailer and Raider) swing-away spare tire carrier on the back. It is water/dust tight. So far it goes wherever I've tried to tow it. Sorry, no pix until I get back to the U.S.

I have given this all a great deal of thought. My SWB is too small to tow everything. Camp trailers with internal tents don't have enough storage. I carry my tent in the trailer rolled up.

The jeep trailer looks like a good package. I'd like to have the hitch. There are many variations of it here and I may bring one back. I'm not so sure about the suspension. I've had no problems with the leaf spring/ live axle, although I've contemplated putting shocks in.

I wouldn't be able to camp in the places I like with anything taller than the Raider. I could comfortably pull another 300-400 pounds - I estimate mine at 1200 loaded.

This is a really nice teardrop:

Wow. 3 posts that show I hurt your e-feelings. Didn't mean to offend. I was just saying that you trying to compare your tow-behind to one of those long-travel things isn't even a good comparison...

I don't even have a hitch. It decreases departure angle. Especially at the car wash....

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
