Couldn't find the old thread that had this all figured out...Measured from bottom bolt center to the top mount plate

Max extension - 48.5cm (sway bar removed)
Max compression - 39.5cm (maybe 2-3cm's more, I'm checking it with OME medium duty springs in there and that's as far as it went before lifting the frame)

While I'm at it - anyone have a link for KYB specifications - compression/extension specs specifically? They don't seem to have any

and oh - the Rancho 9000's are a joke. Might be nice for a pickup or some light end app but they don't do anything in my setup. I'm going with the Monomax's like I have up front.

Call KYB's support line if you can't find it. They're really good about helping with tech questions.

I just put some monomax shocks on the rear of mine, The ride is stiffer and the control is great. The gas adjusts I took of had 30k on them they were not up to high speed dirt driving any more. As far as length goes

Called KYB - the issue he said is that the OEM shock is "quite stiff" for the Gen2. KYB 'charges' their monotube shocks to be stiffer than OEM specs by a factor of 10-20%.

Any alternative would be a loss in stiffness compared to the OEM - he said any other shock would be around a 30% loss.

So you're stuck with their OEM replacement size. They measure from the thread shoulder to the eyelet center - so taking the polyurethane bushing and washer into consideration - that's about a loss of an inch compared to my previous measurements.

So - Monomax OEM replacement specs:
Monomax Extension max -18"
My measurement - 19.1" minus 1" for bushing - 18"

Monomax compression max - 11"
My measurement - 15.6"

So we're good.

...But then he gave me a part# which turned out to be the Gas Adjusts.
- So I'll have to call them back and see what still applies.

Your profile pic is freaky. I've heard the KYB's are the way to go and not bad on price either. And I heard the ones that ship compressed shouldn't and the ones that need be aren't. So maybe you can mention that if you haven't called already.

Good work Phil My Gas Adjusts have about 80k on them so it's time for a new set. Monomax shocks look like the best choice, especially for flex in the rear

The Bilsteins look good - and the offroad versions are made with a lift in mind...but double the $$$.

I'll have to think on that.

Here's a list of the Mitsu Bilsteins - Off Road Warehouse
