Well to start off with I broke my windshield while prepping the truck for paint. So I try to buy a new one. No longer availible in Canada. So to get one out of the states they are saying $500.

So if I buy a used one out of the wreckers in the states where is the best part of the west to look for good glass? Meaning a place with fairly regular glass replacement. I'm guessing places like AZ has few stone chips and cracks warrenting replacment so the glass is original, meaning old and pitted. This is a solution due to the price of used glas being around $100.

Thanks guys.

Do you have windshield replacement shops that have US branches? Maybe they can get one in? I know safelite auto glass is a huge company with hundreds of locations across the US. Maybe they have sites near you?

I have done a fair bit of looking around the common shops here. Best I've been able to find so far is "I can get you the rubber in a few days, $46.00". Hah that doesn't really help. I'm still searching all my avenues on this one.

Why do you need a new rubber gasket? Is the old one failing? They're fairly resilient so if it's not cracking, I'd go ahead and use it.

My old 89 still has the original rubber gasket.

I don't need one. I bought a new a few years ago when I replaced the glass. Some one glued the one in before that and it had to be cut out. It just seems to be the only part I can buy.

May have some leads on one from a guy I work with. His buddy is a glass guy and figures he can find one for a reasonable price.

Wow, that really sucks. I bought a new one a year ago for less than $150 installed!

Can you get one from a yard in car-part.com?

Thats what I'm trying to do threw a wrecker I know. Just need to figure out where in the states is a good place to source one from. Places that never get stone chips have old and pitted glass usually. To many stones and it will probably need to be replaced anyways. So I'm trying to find middle ground.

Then when I come down to the states next spring I'll set up getting it replaced while I'm down.

Here's the one in Ronan via car-part.com
