Getting the Wheeling Fever

Okay so I have disconnected the tranny wiring and now the loom is completely disconected. The engine is gonna come out now. Now I'm faced with the complicated task of separating the wiring to the transmission and transfer case so that it can be re-used. My question is how is best to do this. I un-wrapped some of the loom and it's a bit overwhelming!! Can the transmission/transfer case wiring be separated from the rest or am I going to have to do some cutting? Another question is in regards to two plug connections inside the cab, next to the ECU. What are they to? They appear to run up and into the dash, so I'd assume they are for indicator lights and the gauges. Man I wish they didn't loom everything together like they did!! Any thoughts? Thanks for any and all help.
