Found out today that i can?t put my montero t-case behind the Aisin 450-43LE (Fuso trans) and I don?t want to switch to a Landcruiser T-case so the search is on for a good 4M40 engine/trans/harness combo.

Need a Spot
My stepson took the good camera to costa rica over the holiday and it did not return, so I only have the camera phone for now. I shot a video of it running, but it was dark. I will try again today. Sorry the blog did not upload till this morning, some iWeb glitch locked it up. Seems the A/T will not go into overdrive yet, may have to figure out the wiring difference. The dash light works, but no shift. I am using the RHD diesel tranny harness, plugging into the original dash harness, into the 4M40 A/T ECU. Wiring diagrams all looked the same, but I need to check again.

Nice Blog post.

FYI.. My Gen1 had a similar experience when I put in the factory diesel airbox in. The bolt holes were there under 2 plastic caps that I just pried out with a screwdriver!!! I was thrilled!! All I had to do was weld up a bracket that bolted in place of the evap canister to support the top.

Body Damage is Cool
Just read everything on your Blog. As nice is my Gen one has been over the years and as clean as it is- I may plan to do some sort of diesel swap when(if ever) it finally dies. I also have same 95SR. But I'm not sure I'm keeping it. I don't know if I trust the 3.5ldohc like my 3.0.

I uploaded a youtube of it running. I have one driving it too, but it was a little boring. I did get the overdrive working, just had to connect the blue and white wire and red and yellow wire to the A/T ECU (or something like that) The water temp gauge now works as a side effect. Note: the comment about the dash wiring bundle above the glow box is WRONG. Several attempts to tap into the correct color wires resulted in stuff like 1. the ride control lights displaying S and H at the same time, 2. the center lock indicator flashing, 3. The radio having so sound... while trying to hook up stuff like the tach signal, oil pressure, etc. The Volt meter, and Temp both work there though. Some of the wires are easier to splice into at the old MPI ECU. I still need to add the intercooler fan relay and A/C wiring. I want to eventually tie in the glow on indicator to the check engine light and get the oil pressure light wired. It does not look like the motor has an oil pressure sending unit, but I have not looked for it yet, the wire is used at the connector. I've been driving it daily and now using the glow plugs manually. The controller turns them on, but does not seem to switch them off yet (at least not within 30sec and after starting).

Need a Spot
going to put a 4m40 engine and a v5mt31 in my V43 3000-v6 1991.. with 6g72 and v5mt1 this summer...
Have found me a V46 1996 for the swap... this one has a electronically controlled diesel pump but some of 4m40 engine have mechanically controlled diesel pump... I found one that has been ordered and is on its way this requires only the power to stop valve

my 3000, soon with a 2800tdi engine
