I usually wear nitrile gloves when working on the engine/drivetrain. I don't normally want to wear leather/cloth gloves due to the added bulk and the ease which can snag on the rig. However, if the area I'll be working on has sharp stuff, I will wear a cheapo set of leather/cloth gloves I bought at HD/Lowes/Ace/OSH. I also have a comfy pair of tan leather work gloves (3 pack @ costco) I occasionally wear if I need even more protection.
