I know this is a little OT, but what is the minimum backspacing required to run wider tires? my friend wants to grab a set of steelies for his raider but needs to know the required backspacing to run 33x12.5

Hopefully someone will chime in here, but I'm thinking that big of a tire will definitely cause some rubbing issues without a lift of some kind, regardless of the backspacing? I used to have a Jeep Comanche 4wd pickup, running 31's on stock Jeep alloys, and I had to change the lower control arms in order to avoid rubbing. Barely cleared the inner fenders, but without those S-shaped LCAs from a Grand Cherokee, they would've rubbed for sure down there.

I've run 33x12.5x15's on an 15x8" rim with a neutral offset (4" backspacing). You may get some rubbing (very slight) in back during full compression. You WILL need to trim your front bumper end caps or replace the bumper entirely to avoid rubbing there.

I have used 33x12.5 tires (mud and all-terrain treads) on 8" and 10" rims with 4" back spacing, and 8" rims with 3.75" back spacing. I liked the ATs on 8s for the front and 10s for the rear, made good for canyon racing.
