Mitsubishi does have a wide range of products under its umbrella that also includes electronics and shipbuilding.

At one point when I lived in Japan, the running joke was Mitsubishi was the ultimate recycler -- using scrap steel from shipbuilding to build cars and make cans for food.

At one point, they were (probably still are) the largest corporation in Japan. They touch all facets of life.
