Hey John, there are really good bus drivers, too, think of Jancuski and Gilbreath. And you get a lot of ?pilot from me.
Re the rear plug, I've had installs where I had to take the rocker arm assembly all the way off to seat the cup right, and you have to put a smear of rtv on the upper/lower rear and front bearing cap mating surfaces where there's no gasket seal. I've seen leaks there so bad the loss of oil pressure killed the cam bearings.

The Fel-Pro head gasket set includes two different plugs, as there must be two different style of head, or at least two sizes for that bore. One uses the rubber cup with a metal flange and the other is basically a rubber plug. I have received one of each from Clearwater over the years.

There is a rubber doughnut seal for the fwd version of the 2.6, and the cam had an extension for a sprocket that drove an air pump or something like that. I've both used the doughnut and cut off the cam extension to use a fwd cam in a rwd motor.

Eeeep! Before my oil pump spontaneously died on reassembly(wouldn't prime at all...), the idle oil pressure was in the re drange... Still is sometimes... I was told all 2.6's do that...
Am I screwdrivered? No ill effects that I can see right now...

I'm with Eddy and John on this. I've R&R'ed at least a half dozen Clearwater heads on Monteros and they don't come with plugs installed. I'm betting the mechanic put it in dry to test fit and then never went back to re-seat it with RTV.

The set up question for....... 1: How blue RTV is destroying motors by letting parts slide out. 2: How using blue RTV would have saved your motor.

The set up question for....... 1: How blue RTV is destroying motors by letting parts slide out. 2: How using blue RTV would have saved your motor. Was trying to be funny on the "blue goo" statement old joke .. Sorry..Just a name for all RTV I use .. The plug is rubber any RTV could and does get a rubber seal or rubber plug to slide out at times ...I "me" never put RTV on the rubber plug ...I do put RTV on the cam cap to the head on the crack ... But not on the rubber plug .. I've done a mess of 2.6 motors ..Put the plug in "backwords" and make sure its not hitting the back of cam and the sucked will never come out .. LOL... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />..Thats worked for years and 100's of motor for me .. To each there own ..Do what works for you .. Once more...Sorry on the plug coming out and killing your motor ..Sorry to say your not the only one thats happen to .. You have to really make sure that plugs in there good .. To bad your not near AZ theres some good running motors around the northern highlands of AZ.. Have a good day David Hazardous Toys inc

Was trying to be funny on the "blue goo" statement old joke .. Sorry..Just a name for all RTV I use .. I remember calling the blue RTV the same thing. Gorilla snot was another favorite name, yellow and sticky. As far as smell goes, if I remember the blue RTV was an acetoxy cure with a nasty acetic acid smell. If you use it on electrical components you may be in for a surprise.
