Hey gang, I'm going to install a brand new 4D56 into my near mint condition 89 Mazda B2600i 4x4. The motor has been ordered and should be here right after Christmas. Here is the truck... Here is the motor... I've already found the proper bellhousing and complete glow plug system, now I'm looking for the rear sump oil pan, fuel filter housing and maybe a wire harness.

Sexy grease-free engine? Check! Awesome pickup truck in great condition? Check! I'm tied between loving the truck and loving the engine... both together might be too much... You should pop in over at HRCS, few guys over there will go gaga over a good condition Mazda. What happened to the engine in the truck now? Tired beyond repair?

Nope, it only has 52,000 origional miles and runs like a top. I'll be selling it once it's pulled.

Does anyone have the link to the wiring diagram? Mostly interested in the glow plug section but a complete diagram would be great too.

After 4 months and still no engine, I've demanded a refund. I have found another supplier that is supposed to have them in stock. Hopefully I'll get a refund check next week.

I just scored a 98 Montero SR rear axle with locker for a great price, I'll be installing this into my Mazda as soon as I find an air pump and switch.

Welp, my axle just came and it's from a Montero Sport with no locker and the wrong gear ratio. It was listed wrong on eBay.

I finally received a refund only after filing a complaint with the CA Attorney General. But Mr Perez decided to deduct $500 for the shipping and customs fees on a motor that I never received. Even after telling the Attorney General that we would receive a FULL refund. Just a word of warning before you do any kind of large business transaction, do your homework and check with the Better Business Bureau first (Perez Wholesale Distributor has an "F" rating by the way), I wish I would have. The company is http://perezwholesaledistributor.com/ and the owners name is Jose Perez.

Ordered another motor from another supplier that was much more pleasant to deal with. The motor should be here in 7-10 days.

I fabbed up the oil pickup last night which was easier than I thought it would be. I didnt' need to move the dipstick after all as it works just fine where it is. All I need now is to install a bung in the oil pan for the oil return then I can button up the bottom. Pics to come soon.

Looks great! I'm interested to see some actual pictures of the rest of the engine.
And what's that coming off the bottom of the alternator?

I'll be taking more pictures soon, what do you want to see that you can't see in the ones on the first page? Do you mean hanging off the back of the alternator or bottom? The thing on the back is indeed a vacume pump.

The engine is sitting in the bay and bolted to the bellhousing. Now to fab up some motor mount brackets when I get back from vacation. ![[Linked Image]](http://cdalejef.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-LSg5ZHF/0/L/smugshot6352822-L.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://cdalejef.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-hZ6fTVW/0/L/smugshot450902-L.jpg)

Got the truck back from the exhaust shop, had them run 2.5" with no muffler. Drove it to work this morning (20 miles) and it did great. After I get a couple hundred miles on it, install boost and pyrometer guages I'll do some tweaking with the fuel screw and wategate to get a tad bit more fuel into the system. After that I'll start looking into installing an intercooler. Funny thing is, it will only run with the vacume hose disconnected from the EGR. When I have it connected it is exteremly hard to start and runs like crap and smokes badly once it does start. With the vacume hose disconnect, it starts and runs great.

I've drove this truck to work and back 30 miles round trip everyday and two 250 mile road trips in the last month and its running great. Averaging 28mpg and cruises nicely at 70mph. The power is much better than the gas motor pulling hills in 5th that I used to have to downshift to 4th for. I have the max boost set at 9psi till the motor gets a few thousand miles on it. After that I'll be installing an intercooler, pyrometer and turning up the boost and fuel.

Nice truck. I'm just wrapping up my 4d56T swap into a 89 Ram 50. Man, seemed like swap info is very limited for these. I looking at the exhaust manifold and there isn't much space. How did you get the EGT probe in there?

So I finally after all of these years installed an intercooler. This is a factory one from a Mitsubishi Pajero. The install was pretty easy, I just had to bend the two brackets that bolt to the core support a little and make a bracket for the rear to mount to the fire wall. There is a noticeable power difference and I picked up another 5psi of boost. ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-MwrM2bJ/0/9e25c425/L/IMG_0194-L.jpg)

I moved the stereo up to the pocket that's right under the air vents. By using a mechless stereo (no CD player) I was able to mount it without removing or modifying the duct work for those vents that's behind the panel. This makes reaching the stereo much easier and safer. I was also able to move my CB up to where the stereo was and reinstall the original pocket underneath the CB.... ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-qgfbFpg/0/d4931480/XL/smugshot_7937146-XL.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-nhhxKpL/0/fad70eda/XL/IMG_0199-XL.jpg)

Wonderful truck and nice clean swap. I have that same motor in my '93 Pajero SWB, recently acquired and getting used to a real Vermont winter. So far so good. Starts like a champ and runs very well.
What did you settle on for boost pressure after installing the intercooler? I'd like to tweak my rig's settings - a little.
Thanks!

Body Damage is Cool

I've replaced the front springs with OME's and added some extended shackles to the rear. Swapped 4.90 R&P from a Montero Sport into my Montero locked rear axle... ![[Linked Image from photos.smugmug.com]](https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-KW5ZPc9/0/8a3f631c/L/IMG_0268_heic-L.jpg) The air locker looks like a 9" unit. An unanswered question of mine, are the axle shafts for this the same length as the open dif axles?

Mounted up some Cooper STT Pro's in 235/85-16, basically a 32"x9"... ![[Linked Image from photos.smugmug.com]](https://photos.smugmug.com/Trucks/Mazda-B2600i/i-VHSF3W2/0/b9de9957/L/IMG_0550_heic-L.jpg)

What front bumper/grille guard is that? The whole rig and project looks great, thanks for sharing it. I've got an 89 B2600i 4x4 and am working on getting a 92 as a parts rig. Thinking of doing a Cummins R2.5 swap at some point.

Your efforts over the years have produced a very nice truck. Kudos.
