The pedal is adjustable. There is a nut on the back of the pedal. Break that loose and you can spin the shaft with your fingers to the adjustment you want and then tighten the nut back up. The nut is either a 12 or 13mm if I remember right.

Adjustable but if it's that bad then your clutch is probably near worn out. If you mess with adjustment with a worn clutch, be sure to remember to set it back when you put in a new clutch. Cold weather also will make an engine run like crap due to the poop fuel atomization. which is why takes can have coolant passages in them to help warm the intake faster. cold air intake isn't good at a certain point. it can be too cold. our rigs aren't the best cold runners. they do need a minimum of a minute before you think to move it and if you only take a minute, you better just grannie it for another 5 minutes till that needle starts to lift and don't beat on it till the needle gets at lest past the 1st quarter mark. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Firstly I would avoid doing unnecessary and expensive work and just concentrate on the problem at hand.
Does it turn over at full speed or is it turning over slowly?
Have you tried the jump start trick yet? Did it turn over quicker?
Have you had the battery and alternator checked properly for charging capacity by an auto-electrician?
Are all belts in good condition and tensioned up correctly?
Are all electrical connections between the battery, chassis and engine secure and in good condition?
That should clear the electrical system..............
When was the last plug/coil/lead change?
Can you get the fuel pressure measured properly? This should include a bleed back check.
Fuel filter last changed when?

I have only had it for about a month now, I bought a oil filter and the oil for it. The timing belt (as far as I know) hasnt been changed, so I am going to do it so it doesnt break when I dont want it to.
I tried the jump start thing but it still turned over the same way, nothing faster. It is still turning over slowly but always starts.
all the other belts look to be in good condition and are tight.
I will be changing the plugs tomorrow while I have it all apart.
I forgot to get a fuel filter so I will get one tomorrow morning. I have some corrision at the battery, I will clean them off and try it again.

Turning slowly.. hmm.. When I bought mine. I thought mine turned slowly too.. and compared to other vehicles (especially honda/toyotas), it is a slower turner! But it should not turn for 30 seconds before it starts.. it should take 3-6 turns (2 seconds or less) to start. This is important. This is a diagnostic fork in the road.. if it's slow, it's one thing.. if it takes longer than norm to fire up and it just keeps cranking, that's another path.. and there's the chance that both are occuring. but it should'nt take 30 sec even if it's a slow crank. I've had mine start with a bad battery in 20 degree weather and it still only took 5-8 seconds. So... one? the other? or both? or did I miss this? ok, the timing belt change went very well. Took the old one off and seen the it needed changed, I found a crack in it. it took the whole 5-6 hrs to do though. Lots of small bolts. While there I changed the plugs and cleaned up the battery cables, changed the oil and filter. Started it and it seems to have the same problem as before with it turning over for about 30 seconds or more.
Now I guess I am left with the fuel filter, having the starter checked and maybe the voltage regulator. It seems to turn over slow then tries to speed up and then finally starts. I would have to record the sound and how long it takes to you could hear it. I think my camera will do it but I will have to see.

Ok , it drives good EXCEPT for when I come to a stop, the idle revs up to about 3000 and then slowly goes down. It does this everytime I come to a stop. Any idea of what that may be? I got a new to me TPS, and I am going to clean the mass air flow and the idle/air control. If you know what else it may be, please steer me in the right direction.
