was the ENTIRE distributor replaced as in The optical pick-up Under the cap and rotor? as in the whole mechanism? What yr truck is this?

Have you tried testing spark using a plug wire from another cylinder? Plug wires, even new can be bad from the factory. It just happens sometimes, also the little metal connector inside the plug boot can pull off the wire enough to cause weak spark, happened to me twice.
