In the start and most of his term I think he liked central banks and helped them get bigger in the US. Later though Lincoln made a statement one time that I can not quote exactly but it was something like I am fighting two enemies one is the army to the south and the other is finacial backers with the finacial as the worst enemy. Then a few month before he died he created a currency outside the control of a central bank.
