I thought the later coil spring rear models ,,,possibly only the 3.5 SOHC models had a "Hybrid" LSD(whatever that is).
I've seen a 98 3.0 leaf rear with disc brakes and an LSD diff., 4.36.( An easy brake improvement swap for you 4 cly guys).
Most 3.0s I've seen came with either an open diff or LSD with drum brakes.
I like the looks of the later 3.5 models, seems they have more headroom,,,,I just wish they had the V5MT1 option.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well after driving a 1996 Montero LS (beat to hell) and a 1998 Monteor Sport, I have decided to go with the larger of the two. I'm looking for a nice 1995 SR. I wonder how long this will take me.

No, for my frequent ski trips to Tahoe and less frequent ones to MT (not cold there right?), CO, UT, etc.

LeadHeavy, good choice. Keep a look out on internet searches for just that vehicle. You'll probably have to travel to get it home, but who knows?

Keep an eye out for Lloyd Swartz, an original forum member who rarely posts here anymore. He lives in ABQ.

I've talked with Lloyd before. I had inquired about his rig when he sold it and we talked for a bit about how awsome the Monteros are. Very nice and knowledgeable fellow.
