I get email update on closouts. I've never seen these offered , 'cept. when you buy the whole distibutor. There are like $58.00. Not sure what year they are for, afraid to trust them on this . They list it under the '89.,

Checking the other 3.0 years out it looks like this one is only for the 89. Everybody else is stuck with buying the whole distibutor.

It's the guts in your distibutor. Most vehicles of this vintage used a magnetic pickup to trigger the spark. Ours uses a turning disc with 2 sets of information slots. A couple LEDs shine thru the slots and tell the ECU what the engine doing. It sinces top dead center and cam position. There are a code for each. The 89 was a unique year to it's module. The system being a hair more primative on emmissions, etc. than 90-94 3.0s. Mine still has the original module at 245 K. The diodes can get weak or burn out. I carry an extra distributor with me when on long trips and when I go way back in. A new distib. runs like $250. I can't see buying a whole distibutor when I can't even picture how one in a 3.0 would wear out. The shaft is real short, not much torquing against the bushing.

A little late replying dave but thanks for the heads up on this. I bought one of their last one when you mentioned it. Hopefully that never goes bad while I own the rig but if it does... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

wish I had some extra bucks I'd sure get one before there all gone. Last time I checked one brand was gone. You can still get them thru you local parts store for like 125.
Ray, I thought your SWB was a '90. Maybe 90 swb had the same module as the 89 swb.???
