I'd have to agree with what's already been posted. Trying to put a '68 327 into your '90 Montero is a non-starter in CA. Even if you could get it to fit, the smog referee will fail it, so just punch yourself in the balls now and move on, lol!

I know you've got that 327 ready and waiting, but it probably would be better to look for something like a 90-newer 5.0 Mustang donor car. The Ford SB has the distributor in the front, and isn't the oil pan sump in the front as well? Both of those should help in squeezing a V8 into the Montero.

There was a YouTube video that someone in the Aussie Pajero forum posted, of someone who stuffed one of those 32-valve Toyota V8s into a Montero. Man, that thing was pretty quick, all things considered. The installation was clean too, looked like it came from the factory that way.

I know some of the folks in here have done the 2.6L turbo conversion from the Starion/Conquest. Have you thought about maybe doing a turbo conversion on your 3.0 using parts from a 3000GT VR-4 or Stealth R/T? I suppose if one has enough time and money, just about anything's possible.
