How can i register out of state? Are you suppose to be a resident of the state for you to register the vehicle?

Plus I can make room for that chevy to fit in there. It will be tuff but i know i can make it fit. It doesn't look that much bigger.

Find vortech heads and wiring harness. Or you could maybe even do a TBI setup but, that isnt as efficient as the Vortech.

I'd have to agree with what's already been posted. Trying to put a '68 327 into your '90 Montero is a non-starter in CA. Even if you could get it to fit, the smog referee will fail it, so just punch yourself in the balls now and move on, lol!

I know you've got that 327 ready and waiting, but it probably would be better to look for something like a 90-newer 5.0 Mustang donor car. The Ford SB has the distributor in the front, and isn't the oil pan sump in the front as well? Both of those should help in squeezing a V8 into the Montero.

There was a YouTube video that someone in the Aussie Pajero forum posted, of someone who stuffed one of those 32-valve Toyota V8s into a Montero. Man, that thing was pretty quick, all things considered. The installation was clean too, looked like it came from the factory that way.

I know some of the folks in here have done the 2.6L turbo conversion from the Starion/Conquest. Have you thought about maybe doing a turbo conversion on your 3.0 using parts from a 3000GT VR-4 or Stealth R/T? I suppose if one has enough time and money, just about anything's possible.

Wasn't that V8 Pajero from Thailand?

It looked like a street in Chiang Mai. I hope it was because in November when we go back I'm going to try and find him and possibly duplicate with a SWB version.

If I hadn't of spent the $$$$ I had on my existing engine (with only 15k on it) I might be trying it here first. I've thought about picking another SWB and doing it but too many vehicles already........

But I have to think that if they got a multi-valve V8 like that to fit, considering how wide something like that must be, then a Ford 302 out of a Mustang should be MUCH easier? Someone on the OZ forum brought up a good point, in that they should make sure they got the right setup to slow it down from its newfound acceleration!

im tired of th epower that my car is putting out. I either can go with a tubro conversion for it and up the HP by a ton but would my mileage drop?

Depends.

If you can stay out of the happy pedal, the mileage should be better, because you are recapturing energy lost out the tailpipe. In short, you reach the desired speed quicker, upshift quicker, and downshift less often. All these mean you pump less air thru the motor, and thus burn less fuel.

If you are like me, the mileage will be about the same, but it's a wheee to drive...

HAHA. I know. But my milage has dropped considerably. Im getting like around 10 mpg on the street. that is really crappy compared to what i used to get. Usually i can drive around 350 miles on a tank of gas. Now im only getting around 250. The motor has around 8000 miles on it from the swap. Idk whats up with it. It smokes sometimes when it idles for a while then i rev it. I know that is the valve guide stem seals. But other than that. Under load there is a rattle coming from the engine and i have no idea what it is. Maybe loose lifters or something. I also have a whine from the belt system that connects to the fan. I noticed the fan starts to sqweek b4 it engages. but when it engages, then there is a wine from it. Idk if that has anything to do with my problems but i was planning to drop a electric fan into it to gain some HP and mileage. Honestly i have no idea why my mileage has dropped so much. I might change the fuel filter and its probably time for new injectors since they are 21 years old. I know its time for a new filter and that's what might be causing some loss in power and efficiency. Other than that, i have a small oil leak out of my oil pan so i have to fix that anyways.

Dude, there is a lot of things to think about on a swap like that. Mounts, mating to a tranny, cooling, a whole list of things. Think this thru before you just start pulling out parts.

It sounds like you've got more of a problem than just a fuel filter if you're only getting 10 mpg. You need to get all your maintenance items taken care of if they haven't been - ignition components, fluids, filters, timing adjustment, etc., then look at it further if it's still getting poor mileage.

Going to an electric fan isn't going to give you any better mileage or more power than a correctly functioning mechanical fan and fan clutch - any mechanical resistance you may lose will be more or less be made up for by the additional drag from your alternator as it powers your electric fan.

Your time and money will be far better spent by getting your engine running properly than on installing an electric fan.
