Getting the Wheeling Fever
yeah i know about that. I had another thread on that i think. I dont quite remember. I believe that my timing is fine. I checked it not to long ago. I also do have a ruff idle. I have friends that work at a custom shop and im not to worried about it since he does swaps like this into other cars. He can fab me up some parts. Anyways. I dont know where to start for my car with my motor right now. I guess i have to go through the whole thing and make sure everything is up to spec. timing can have a huge part in it also. When i swapped the new motor in. I got a tune up kit and replaced everything that was needed to be replaced. I still have to replace the stem seals anyways. So ill check the valves and everything and make sure everything is to proper spec. I dont know what would cause the bad milage. Any suggestions to look at?

A compression check might be a good place to start.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Im gonna go through everything. Cause the last time i went offroad. My milage Dropped. Im really shure that my stem seals are leaking since it just started puffing smoke when it idles. Im gonna check on the O2 sensor probably time to change the air cleaner since i never change it. Time to do a alignment for the front end. I fixed my incredible brake drag with new rotors and pads and lubing of the rails on the calipers. Im gonna check the Sparkplugs to check for oil build up and then ill clean them up a bit. Ill check out my injectors and make sure there is no restrictions and my fuel filter. after that. Ill also do the compression test and see if im losing anything and ill check the timing
Ill let you know what happens

Body Damage is Cool
Your leaking valve stem seals aren't going to have any significant affect on your mileage. A clogged air filter, worn out spark plugs and tired plug wires are far more likely to be causing your problem.

I guess it just sounds like you want to do an engine swap to try to solve your engine problems when you haven't really put the effort into fixing yours. If you're concerned about fuel mileage, swapping in a V8 is kinda heading in the wrong direction.

My mileage sucks when I go offroading. Using 4lo really sucks down the gas and low speeds will do that also. I usally get 16 normally and 12-13 when romping or when I go wood cutting. All the 4x4's I had got worse gas milage 4wheeling then on the paved roads.

I for one, think you should just go for it.
Take alot of pictures, and document this step-by-step.
Make sure your wife/ girlfriend has alot of patience, and knows how to hand you the right wrench, and make a proper sammich. (See "Funny" post in off topic...)
Don't forget to pick up a foam "dummy block".
Lotsa luck, and keep us posted...

I wish i can put that in my car. But i cant get it to pass inspection. California is ridiculous.

How thoughtless of the state to have pollution laws to reduce pollution that keep non smog engines out of newer models. Its not like anyone is going to have lung problems or anything from it.
