The truck engine bay is significantly larger than the Montero engine bay.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> That is not in a montero... It is a pick up truck, and it is..... SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER!!!! Long story short, a SBC won't fit well. If you want anything close to a stock looking engine bay you need a shorter motor. Without hacking the firewall, you will need to mount the radiator about where the front grill is. But... You should CERTAINLY take your own measurements, and see what will and wont fit, and whether or not you are willing to seriously modify the radiator support, or ack out your firewall.

Pete - yeah, I think that's the same one. The actual Pajero isn't in OZ, it's in Bangkok: http://www.youtube.com/user/turbopandaBut I have to think that if they got a multi-valve V8 like that to fit, considering how wide something like that must be, then a Ford 302 out of a Mustang should be MUCH easier? Someone on the OZ forum brought up a good point, in that they should make sure they got the right setup to slow it down from its newfound acceleration! Again, if one has the time and money... I think I saw this in Bangkok in October... Looked parked in the same place for 5 days that I drove by it. Will check again in March.

That's a nicely done Gen 1 LWB, that's for sure! Just proves that if you have the time, money, patience, and some helpful friends, you too can heavily mod your Gen 1! I'm not a big fan of the diamond plate door panels, but I guess from a purely functional perspective, those would be better than the stock fabric/vinyl door panels. Also, did anyone else notice the three air horns in the engine compartment? He's got them pointed up instead of down (bad because it'll catch water if they're pointed up), but the fact that he could stuff that V8 in there and have room for three air horns says a lot!
So a 4.5L V8 is what, about 270 cubic inches, give or take? Looks like it has 2-valve heads, so that'll keep it narrower than 4-valve heads, and simpler to fix. But size wise, the 327 that started this thread is significantly larger, yes? Again, maybe a SB Ford (289, 302) would be a better candidate for a V8 swap?
But he did a good job on that one!

This is for the 3.0L engine right? Are you talking a twin turbo setup like the GT3000's or a single turbo setup?
PSI will depend on the condition of the engine based on what I've read about it through the years.

I can either go twin turbo or a single turbo... the condition on the engine is good. since i rebuilt it around 2 years ago. the only problem i have right now is bad valve guide stem seals and a rattle whens the engine is under load. I think maybe there is a loose lifter somewhere on the block and needs to be torqued down properly. im gonna go through it once more when i change the seals. I think it will be fine. But is the engine a low compression 3.0 v6 sohc 12 valve
