Question:
What is the ideal exhaust set up for our rigs to gain more torque and/or horse power from the stock 2.0 engine?

2" exhaust or 2 1/4" exhaust 2 1/2" exhaust?
2 cats, 1 cat, no cats?
OE muffler, High flow muffler, duel muffler or no muffler?
Single exhaust or dual exhaust?
Stock diameter to second cat, larger diameter after?
Larger diameter pipe from 1st cat to tips end?

Is it even worth the $$$ to change the exhaust, or is there no gains?

I noticed a small gain at higher RPMs by replacing the stock muffler with the Thrush Turbo. If you go to big exhaust size you are going to loose back pressure. Quite honestly I doubt 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 will gain you anything at all. 2-1/4" dual exhaust on a V8 300hp engine is sufficient.

Body Damage is Cool
Mine is 2.5" all the way back from the CAT. I can't say I noticed major improvements as far as MPG, horse power, acceleration, and torque, but I did in the sound. I can hear my exhaust now where before you didn't hear anything. ItÆs not quite to the fart can sound you get from a rice burner, but it is louder than stock. You could tell when I was coming from a half a block away. I did see improvements in all categories, but then again, you are moving a 3800 lb vehicle with a 2.0 liter engine. Any improvement of 10% really can't be felt in the seat of the pants. Now that my exhaust tip is missing the sound is about back to stock but I still have the minor improvements I gained with opening up the exhaust. IÆll see if the sound comes back when I put a new tail pipe on with a 2ö or 3ö tip.

Going from 2 ? to 2 ¢ I donÆt think will make that big of a difference. I think it will come down to price and availability of parts on hand at the shop instead.

well i work for the parts store and basiccly same price for either muffler and only a few dollars diff for the stick of pipe...same price to have the guy bend it and weld it up for me so price isnt really the factor...more so dont want obnoxious sound or too big as to hurt any category of performance
