Getting the Wheeling Fever

http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.p...p;vc=1&nt=2

up to here :

then weld these gears like this (this is a chevy gear)

[Linked Image]

reassemble, fill with fluid, now you've got locker?

::EDIT::

ive also seen where they just take all these gears and weld them to the housing :

[Linked Image]

which method would be correct? or stronger? im thinking welding them all to the housing would be pretty much the same thing, and be a lot stronger.

If you do it like that, it'll prob blow up.

You need to weld the spider gears to themselves while they are inside the differential.

Search Lincoln Locker, and you will find many posts on this. I've written out explicit instruction to it before.

If you dont have a welder, cant you just fill the teeth in with JB weld? It cures up pretty darn hard.

With the pin in, I tacked the gears in front. Then I pulled the pin out and rotated the assembly 90 degrees so I could weld the back side of the gears. This pic just shows the tacks before I did the full weld...I was able to weld the full length between the tack welds:

I then rotated it back the way it's supposed to be, but the pin back in, and then finished welding from the front.
Sorry, I took this pic a few months ago and didn't realize that it was out of focus. Hopefully it's good enough to get the idea.

Weld the gears together only, welding to the housing will crack because of the type of casting it is. I plate over the pin and weld the gears together and to the plate.
