You need to weld the spider gears to themselves while they are inside the differential.

Search Lincoln Locker, and you will find many posts on this. I've written out explicit instruction to it before.

With the pin in, I tacked the gears in front. Then I pulled the pin out and rotated the assembly 90 degrees so I could weld the back side of the gears. This pic just shows the tacks before I did the full weld...I was able to weld the full length between the tack welds:

I then rotated it back the way it's supposed to be, but the pin back in, and then finished welding from the front.

Weld the gears together only, welding to the housing will crack because of the type of casting it is. I plate over the pin and weld the gears together and to the plate.
