I know I could have used the stock pump, but this one has been sitting for 10 years unused and I just rebuilt the short block. My luck I would have put a regulator on it and it would have poured gas into the crank case. I was going to just replace the stock, but I am more familiar with an electric.

Plus now I can install a pressure safety switch, which mine has the silent shaft delete kit - I was already pretty nervous about the oil pump. So, for me, it ended up being worth it for the extra $20 for the pump just for peace of mind.
