you should put a second fuel filter between the tank and the elec fuel pump. you should also plug the water port in the intake manifold that will sit under your adapter plate. most tap the hole and put a bolt that will not stick up. it was there to help warm up the stock carb. You will also have to plug some other manifold coolant lines that used to connect to the carb. As for the mech pump, I left mine on, but removed the cam following rod from the pump so that it would not cause any additional drag. I'm not sure how you are powering your fuel pump, but I ended up running an oil pressure solenoid so the pump shuts off if running less than 2psi. You should also run a fuse on the pwr to the pump. since elect pumps are sometimes noisy, I bought a quiet pack from napa. it is a set of 3 rubber issolaters that have bolts on both ends which i attached to my frame.
