I am replacing my "Mikuni of unknown origin" (not for a 1984 Montero for sure), and installing a Weber 32/36 conversion. I read through all the old posts and have also purchased an Airtex inline pump and a Holley regulator to delete my mechanical fuel pump.
Is there anything else I need other than plugging the unused vacuum lines and wiring in the new pump?
I assume it is okay to leave the mechanical fuel pump disconnected without removing it and fabricating a plate?
Thank you for any input, Ryan

you should put a second fuel filter between the tank and the elec fuel pump. you should also plug the water port in the intake manifold that will sit under your adapter plate. most tap the hole and put a bolt that will not stick up. it was there to help warm up the stock carb. You will also have to plug some other manifold coolant lines that used to connect to the carb. As for the mech pump, I left mine on, but removed the cam following rod from the pump so that it would not cause any additional drag. I'm not sure how you are powering your fuel pump, but I ended up running an oil pressure solenoid so the pump shuts off if running less than 2psi. You should also run a fuse on the pwr to the pump. since elect pumps are sometimes noisy, I bought a quiet pack from napa. it is a set of 3 rubber issolaters that have bolts on both ends which i attached to my frame.

Thanks for the heads up on the coolant plug, I am waiting on shipping so I will get that taken care of now.
I was just planning on running a relay triggered by the coil for the electric pump. I am not sure how I would go about wiring in an oil solenoid, although I think it is a great idea.
What all is required to add this? Just adding in an oil pressure solenoid and running the signal wire through it to the relay?
Thanks for the info so far, I knew I would overlook something.

the oil solenoid I bought from napa(i think) LINK . basically, you pull out the oil sending unit from the block, put in a T fitting, put the sending unit in one side the solenoid in the other. You then have 3 wires to hook up. one from the starter system, one switched pwr and one that goes to the pump.

Make sure you have a solid ground for the pump. Using the mounting bolt may or may not work well so either check it with a meter beforehand or just run a ground wire with the power.

Thanks again. I found a Holley safety switch that my local auto parts can get which is very similar to the one you found. I just have to locate a T which shouldn't be too hard and I will be good to go.
Now I won't have to watch the oil pressure gauge quite so closely.
Thanks for the tip on the ground as well, I will run a wire to the firewall ground probably.

Why are people useing electric instead of the stock pump when doing the weber conversion. No idea...I'm using a Weber 32/36 with the stock fuel pump...I know you need an upgraded fuel pump with the turbo conversion, and possibly if you run the larger Weber 2-barrel (38?). But I was under the impression that no fuel pump upgrade was needed with the Weber conversion...
