The day came for me this morning, my Valentine's gift from my Raider is a request for :Fix Me!!!"

For the $1,000 I paid for Roxy, she has been the best vehicle I've had. Fortunately for me, I have our motorhome with me, so can still get to work. Unfortunately, we 3 are located 180 miles from home, parts and tools.

My VLAs no longer are a primary concern. Smalltimedodge might consider this karma. Whatever. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />

Sorry Russ,,,murphy law.
Are you stranded up in the northern Sac. Valley?
Wish I wasn't so far south.

Wow, I hope I get 100k miles out of my head gasket. Sorry to hear it went out that far away from home though.

Are you planning on towing "Roxy" back? Or just buying/renting/stealing the necessary tools to change it where you are at?

If you have someone to help you, you might be able to just pull the head with the manifolds attached... I removed mine by myself, but there is no way I could have put it back on without damaging the new gasket.

I vote we all donate $20 to help save Roxy. As much as I like you providing parts I would hate to hear you decide to part her out.

Ryan, donations not needed. As a federal employee, I cannot accept them anyway.

I have my rv, so I am not without wheels. This is my setup for redundancy:

After I was laid off last year, my Raider set for about 6 months and did not run as well afterward. From DD to yard ornament had a toll. Still, love the Raider.

Darn it, I had my finger on the "send payment" button and everything. No telling how far $20 could have got you. :-P

You do look prepared, I was wondering why you swapped out your bumper for tow bar in "wrenching on the ranch" post, guess that explains it. But it still it sucks to be that far away from home when something happens.

Hope whenever you drive home everything goes smooth. Let us know when you get Roxy up and going again.

Ryan, thanks for the well-wishing. Until $$ come in, it could be awhile. We'll have the tax return hopefully to play with a little. Secondly, I hope the engine in the 86 I bought last summer has some value.

Cheers.

My same question about re-torquing at 158K... and reasonably unknown history before 150k when I bought it.

You took that comment to serious. It was not meant to be directed at just you. I am sorry we miss had a misunderstanding. I do not think it is karma.
