Need a Spot
I have a 1989 Dodge Raider with a 3.0 6G72 motor. I messed up the top end on it when I was off road. I had a guy putting a 289 Ford in it for me, but he just never got started. After a year of waiting I took the Raider back and it just has an empty engine compartment now. The 3.0 is gone. I really wasn't pleased with the 3.0 and haven't had much luck with Mitsubishi motors in the past or the present either (not looking for any argument or discussion of that).
Is there any motor that will bolt onto the transmission of my Riader that is not a Mitsubishi. Is there any other compatible engine. Ford, Chevy, toyota, etc. Thank you.

No.

We have this topic nearly on a monthly basis lately.

The Mitsu 3.5L is an oft thought of installation. Lots more HP and a little more torque.

Why not continue with your V8 plans?

Is you AT or MT.
The 3.0 is a pretty dependable and simple engine. Head parts are cheap and very available.
Strong bottom.
Only original valve guides are an issue on these engines.

If you've got alot of bucks and time due a 4.3 conversion.
That engine , trans, t-case ,driveshafts , fuel pump,ECU and wiring system, exhaust system, etc. etc., etc.

a 3.0 out of a Hyumdai sonata, and you'll need your original intake,plenum,T.B., distributor.
If you've lost all those parts there are folks on here that can help you find the parts.

IF you have the AT the bell housing can be swapped. A number of vehicles used the same basic tranny, just get the motor and bellhousing from another vehicle that used an A44D

Since the AT is an AW3 unit, wouldn't a Jeep 4.0 fit the trans (4.0's use the AW4)?

Not that it would fit under the hood, mind you...

how about a 4m40 turbo diesel, late model variable geometry turbo. They are voer 300ftlbs of torque and 225hp I think. Should be more than enough and from what I remember theyb bolt to the v6 transmission. Will set you back around 2400 bucks.

i think you are referring to the 4m41 - but regardless, I am in the united states and am very interested in this motor. especially if it would bolt up to the v6 manual tranny. (i understand i would probably need to get it re-geared.)

do you have any idea where i could source this motor for import to the US (colorado)??

the rising sun forum, or are you referring to Japan? 'cause I can't just call up Japan and say "Yo, I need me a 4m41 motor, ship it."

It took me all of 30 seconds to find what Larry meant by using Google.
