Getting the Wheeling Fever
I read in the post about "best year to get" a sidebar about the diff lock switch killing the ABS. Are we talking killing the ABS or the traction control? I am all ears regarding schemes to disable the clattering traction control! With all the snow we had in the Northeast this winter I was cursing traction control on more than one occasion!

Regarding "best year to get" I've run my '02 to 155k so far with no issues. There was a recall early on for lower ball joints and I took advantage of that:

The other thread was talking about killing ABS, not traction control. Unfortunately for you, the method mentioned in the other thread relies on wiring associated with the rear locker, which isn't available on '01 or '02 4Runners. Sorry.

Hopefully someone will have info that can help you out regarding traction control.
