Body Damage is Cool
3.4, it's weeped a little oil from the seal behind the oil pump for a long time. Recently, it turned into a near stream. OK, fine, time to pull the pump and replace the seal.

Then I saw what was involved. Good lord, what was Toyota thinking when they bolted the pickup tube to the pump that way?

What should be a simple Saturday afternoon job becomes a much longer job involving much heavier pieces.

I feel yer pain. I've got a 99 4R with the 2.7 and a '04 Taco with the 3.4 -- BIG learning curve after almost 2 decades of the 22R/RE.

The Taco has some kind of seep; finally figured out the magic maneuver to get the front skid plate off. The PO put some kind of oil filter relocation kit on the dang thing, so need to find out what's up once the weather warms a tad.
