Oh Frank, I think the bears would be okay for the most part; lots of food around. Just gotta pay attention and know when to call it a day and get off the water/trails.

In Valdez, there's a place where a lot of people shore fish for silvers; the blackies come down and fish too. For the most part, the bears ignore you and go fishing, so leaving your catch on the rocks isn't a very good idea, heheh. You're fine if you don't startle them.

I sure as heck don't want to get stuck salvaging a bear that's been eating fish and clams--pass!! Don't think we'd have enough beer in camp to wash yer mouth out.
