I agree that getting them in can be a PITA... That part doesn't worry me too much.

What I don line is the valving. Aftermarket gas shocks like Monroe's are too soft and dont hold up. While my KYB's in my opinion are too hard.

Not sure if Bilstein has a set for my 87 4 cyl or not.

I used to run Rancho 9000's. I got a decent ride on the right setting.

Might be time for a change.
