Thanks for the points.
So I've put in a new pickup coil inside the distributor (tested good), a new ignition coil (tested good) and tested power going from the ignition switch (one single yellow wire) to the coil. Check.
So, the ignition coil is good and getting power. The pickup coil in the distributor is good and getting power.
The only thing left in the equation is the ignition module which I don't have a tester for.
I put in a new one and still no signal from the module to the coil - coil doesn't spark off the tower when turning over and with a test light there is just a steady power stream through the wire instead of the on/off/on/off sequence.
Will go out and get another new module and hopefully that does it.
Frustrating !
