Getting the Wheeling Fever
Randync turned me on to this MOntero in the Outer Banks region. The tag on the front displays that someone had a bit of South Carolina State pride. I'm guessing the truck spent some time on the coast and I know our sun is bad. But I have literally never seen a car here at the beach with paint on the roof and hood in this condition. Also the driver seat is pretty bad. The guy asked for 2400, I countered at 2 then he sent me these pics. Now I'm thinking around 1500, 170,ooo miles and cdl with mint 3rd row seating. Which I'll likely offer up on here to someone that will put them to use.

That thing honestly looks pretty rough. The interior and exterior show signs of neglect. I'm not sure I'd offer anything on it. If many used car purchases have told me one thing, its cheaper to invest in a better car upfront than trying to fix a basket case.

I paid 2700 for mine with 126k and perfect paint. My seats are cracked up but NOT like yours. I just ordered 500 dollars worth of intake parts to fix Butterfly valve issue. MAKE sure truck runs SMOOTH COLD! and doesn't miss when up to 50-60 MPH These trucks have intake problems!

Guy tried to tell me this was normal paint wear for a 15 year old vehicle and it was priced very well. He also told me Kelly private resale in poor condition is 4500 bucks, I shat myself and spit sweet tea all over my computer screen.

The peeled clear coat, and the wear on the leather is quite common, but it is a little bit on the rough side compared to others I have seen. What year is that one? from the pics I would guess its a 95?

97 Justice. You guys think its worth a 3 hour ride one way and 2k? I don't feel great about it. My dad always told me somebody that don't give a damned about the interior of a car damned sure didn't care about under the hood either.

Kelly Blue book doesn't apply anymore if you ask me, I wouldn't pay more then 2, my seats are cracked too but not torn up like that one. Remember that many ppl aren't gonna want to buy an older SUV with fuel prices rising. And my paint isn't bad just the black trim needs repainted.

For a 97, that one looks a little long in the tooth. One thing to note, 97 was the year the 200 HP 3.5 SOHC was introduced into the Montero's. Also, with this engine, came higher gears in the diffs so this one comes with 4.2's while the 94-96's came with 4.6's in the diffs and the DOHC engine that put out about 15 more horses but also comes with the possible intake issues discussed earlier.

IMO the 4.2 gears combined with the 1.9 T-Case really struggles to crawl with 33" tires, you'll want to get rid of those 4.2's ASAP if you want to crawl at all without overheating. I've seen these get hot really quick on trails a DOHC with 4.6's cruised through without issue.

Looks rough to me also. I have a 89,99 & 03 models. That one looks way worse than any of mine or recent ones i've seen. I would hold out.
