I have just put a 4D56T into an '89 V6 Raider. I've been driving it around with lots unfinished, like the wiring. I've got new glow plugs coming since the ones I have don't seem to draw much current, and it starts rough and smoky.

What tach have you ordered? I put a Stewart Warner that runs off the alternator output in a Chevy Suburban Cummins 12V conversion.

My injection pump looks slightly different than yours. It looks like you have a throttle position sensor that I don't have. I have a solenoid that is located about under the radiator hose. I think it is for injection timing. I have left it disconnected while driving, since I have no idea how to run it or what difference it would make.

I replaced the timing belts. Apparently I need to time the injection pump too. The diesel is pretty slow. It may just be that way, or it may be the timing or the 6000' altitude here. I plan to add an intercooler and turn up the pump a bit. I have no idea how to adjust the pump though!

If I knew how to post pictures here I'd attach on of my injector pump. I also have a good .pdf factory service manual.
