First off, that Special Kitty Racing logo deserves a better image than Wrenchwench's sad attempt there...
Second, I thought I would offer some photo highlights from the days excitement for those who might have missed the live feed.
First order of the day, the body lift went smoothly. With three people working on it, it only took 2 or 3 tries to lift the body off the frame. We didn't loose too much hardware, and it's mostly straight... right? The bonus was no one died with our very high tech, ultra OSHA compliant lifting method...
And only the nut for the mount under the driver foot well went missing. But since that side will always have a driver sitting on it, it doesn't need to be bolted down anyway, right? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />
Of course Toasty was a moving a little slow, bogged down from a hot night last night. Put a couple Volcano tacos in him from TacoHell and what do you get? Double Toasty of course.
That might be twice the Toasty count this world can safely handle, but no catastrophic events have occurred... that we know of.
We also discovered the reason for the seized engine. The PO messed up the mix on the Portland cement injection. When you are trying to hone, port and polish the engine by sand through the intake, it's important to make sure you keep the oil to a minimum so it doesn't gunk up. Check out the TB here, it's the sure fire way to tell...
Of course for any of those wondering, a three inch body lift does allow for some decent room in the wheel wells. You can fit a 31" and a whole Pat in there...
Still, even with the extra room, it can be a two person+ job to get all the bolts off the bell housing as well as the exhaust.
Apparently there's this thing, a chemical process by which steel changes it's composition. Apparently they call it rust. Us desert rats had never heard of such alchemy before, but we fought valiantly, and at with plenty of intense staring, some cursing, and a lot of awkward wrenching, both front and rear engines are almost equally secured, so we are good...
Think that's it for today. If I forgot anything you warriors of weird wrenching recall, please do remind me. My mind probably can't handle all the awesome...
