Kind of like wrestling a Gorilla? I got texts from Kevin over the weekend. Had a lot of Xterra fun, 4x4 shut down, later just stops moving, and now Check Engine light stays on...(I got got all the other warning lights off and 4x4 working again)But hey, I used the Calimini drop kit to grade the trails for all the AWD station wagons I saw, including one that does NOT come with spare tire

It seems like a lot of other items are coming along well, so the engine is becoming key....

I've been real busy with work and wrenching on my own engine, but if you need a hand there PAJ_ERO I've got plenty of tools, and a desire to learn more about this engine. (Don't get me started on my mistake of attaching the accessory bracket before making sure I got the alternator pulley hardware put on before attaching said bracket.) Plus I can supply cold hoppy type beverages when needed for aforementioned wrenching. And I'm just down the street. Let me know.

Jinstv, I told Pa_J you were willing to help, so hopefully he calls you. He did say that beer would help the process.

He has not picked up the engine from WrenchWench's house yet. He's confident he can finish it up in a couple of weeks from the time he does, however.

What's next in the meantime, guys?

Adam has moved from front bumper to skid plates, that much I know. The engine is really key now, to get some rolling stock, and work out any bugs. It would also make some other work easier. We probably have 10 weeks left or so to have it ready for testing, work at my house and prep for Utah. We will need the engine in to button up t/case, driveshafts and such I emagine. I suppose there could be a armor and differential work weekend soon though....

There are no engines in the Montero.

Also there's more room for engines in the back of a gen1 than the back of a gen2.

Sorry no webcam action this time around, but some good work did get done. Yay!

Yay! So my dreams of twin V6s are over? More room in the Gen 1 because of those stupid jump seats that need to come out, and that I partially loostened already....

Body Damage is Cool
I hauled the engine to my house on Saturday and went earlier this morning to picked up the engine hoist so I can get this thing out of the back of my gen 1. I'm gonna start getting it undressed through out this week, first thing I gotta do is pick up some bolts from the local hardware store so I can get this pig up on the stand. The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that neither one of the engine stands I have will support this thing. This motor is ridiculously heavy, I'm sure it will be ok though, hopefully. Adam I also need those valve stem seals and did you ever contact that guy for the special tool? If not I can work with what I have. Also next weekend I think I'm gonna go pick up that other engine so I can snag parts off of it. If the oil pan needs to be swapped then I need a gasket. Are we gonna replace the back cam seals since I have to pull all of this apart? I also have the new crank bolt and rear main seal that was in back of the truck. I'm sure there could be more as I start digging and pulling things apart so I will just keep updating everything. Also, I'm pretty sure this motors butterfly valves were replaced or ok??? I Cant remember, toast? Oh and do I send my bill to toasty? I kid I kid. Lloyd if you have any questions let me know, I think I have your number but I'll pm you mine.

I'll try and post pics as I go to. No promises though
