July 4th is 2 months away. Any chance we could get her then? Maybe the AZ crew could just follow me to Silverton for a little cool weather wheeling? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Not hard wheeling, but scenic.

I was thinking, we could do a few harder trails around Salida then buzz over to Silverton. Maybe take off Mon-Tues since Weds is the 4th? Just a thought.

Ok, let me try and tempt you guys further....I have a plan <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Friday: Leave Phoenix late afternoon, head to Albuquerque and load.
Saturday Morning: Leave for Colorado and work on the Penrose Trail System near Pueblo. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=159
These are all short, but extreme trails. Non-extreme drivers could easily watch the fun. Depending on how many of the 3 trails we want to try dictates schedule further. But assuming we just spend the afternoon, camp near by, then..
Sunday: Cross Hayden Pass http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=111 and run trails in the Bonanza area. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=327
All easy to moderate historic and scenic wheeling.
Monday: Head up to Salida, run Carnage Canyon and Chinaman Gulch. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=178 Difficult to Extreme, but the Extreme trail could be optional. Camp in St. Elmo area.
Tuesday: Run an area trail, depending on what is open. Antero? Iron Chest? Grizzly? Then head over Tin Cup Pass and Drive down to Silverton. Camp near Black Bear Pass.( found some nice, uncrowded and central camping there last year)
http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=51
http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=8
http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=55
Wednesday: Run Silverton trails depending on what is open.(Poughkipsee and Black Bear are the least likely for reference)http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=79 Shoot off fireworks.
Thursday: Short run and Parade(need lots of water balloons)
Head home in early 1-2? afternoon.
Still need some time analyses as this is a very different concept then I have ever tried for Colorado. The 4th is very early for trails as well, but I am counting on a poor snow year and above average temps this spring thus far. But snow will likey effect some higher trail elements. Definately have some plan B's in mind. One potentially postive element is adding some hard stuff for once, but having it all optional with out being left behind.

Watcha think?

Just what fourwheelers like to hear. Could be a great 4th!

DENVERùColorado's snowpack is quickly melting, as warm, dry conditions persist.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service says the statewide snowpack was 19 percent of average as of May 1, with more than half of all snow survey locations in the state reporting no snow. The statewide snowpack was listed at 22 percent of average Thursday.

State conservationist Phyllis Ann Philipps of the Natural Resources Conservation Service says the statewide snowpack looks to have peaked around March 12, which is a month ahead of average. Current conditions match those recorded during the record-setting drought of 2002 in Colorado.

Time to get on the ball boys.

July is peaking around the corner, and our weekends are lessing by the day. We need to get a list of what we have to do still. I know we are getting close to wrapping this up. But still lots of little details to tackle.

Lloyd, I dont know how likely it is that I will have my truck fully ready for this trip. But I will definitly keep you posted as this thing nears.

Pat, I am going to order that cable and shifter this weekend, Is that the exact route we need to go? Just want to be sure before I spend lloyds money <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

Also, are we going to just get the 4:90's for the front from the local yard and order the dealer R&P for the rear? let me know so I can get this stuff ordered and set a day to go to the yard... when the boss isn't there <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Yes, I think that is the way we are going on gears. If my truck won't be ready, then it is obviously a mute point. If we think we can get it ready, and a couple of AZ folks are game, I will put something on the general Mitsu board....Otherwise I will just hang out here for the 4th and plan some sort of scheme for August.
