Today we tackled a couple more projects.

- Winch is bolted down
- painted the mounts and bumper up front
- Intalled the cable shifter.

It was a success at the end of the day or night. Which is how we roll... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> The shifter kit that was purchased for the transfer case project ended up being a pretty good kit. Didn't start that way though. The shifter kit's directions really sucked. Building the shifter box was a PITA pictures to show how were blurry and very hard to see. The explanations were not very informative. But seeing how well it ended up fitting into the montero was very impressive. Still need to do a few things to make it completely permanent but it worked pretty once we got everything all tucked in and snugged down.

BTW Lloyd... we may want to get a new cable for this guy

Here are some pics of the cable shifter box in the truck and how the cable routes to the t case

The Tranny mount still needs some fabrication work done by adam so we can get the whole thing all bolted down tight. With the Jeep tail housing the bolt holes don't line up right with the stock tranny mount. We flipped the cross member to get the cross member to kick back instead of being closer to the pan. This may change depending on how the mount gets fabbed up.

All in all the truck is coming along really well. There is a few speed bumps but nothing major going on. Jay and I discovered the TPS is bad... Really bad. Adam is bringing one over tomorrow so we can get try to get more of a run down on how the truck is actually running. I will post more progress as it comes and hopefully more pics.

Well we did get the idle fixed and figured out the transmission mount deal sorta. For the transmission mount i am making a bracket we can use to connect the new tail housing to the mitsu mount. This can be permanent but my opinion is that the mitsu transmission mounts are junk and i'm not too big on having a largish bracket. I think i finally found the Cherokee transmission mount in polyurethane, if it's the correct mount we could bolt it to the tail housing and weld a nice adapter plate to the crossmember.

Here's the mount i think it is but i'm nopt 100% because it lists it as a 4 cylinder mount. Anyone know a jeep guy who knows this stuff? Daystar transmission mount

Looking good. The cable is only for cave digging. You can leave it off and I will throw my synthetic back on when it gets home.
