Hi Mat Steel. There is also a Newbie in ABQ that might be coaxed into a trip sometime. Still have to get these heads re-done. Maybe a spring Utah trip?

Moving to Colorado next summer, but will still be doing Colorado and Utah trips...

The block may be just fine. I thought the idea was just to scrounge up a set of heads and get them rebuilt, and try to just install them....

Why not just get some Clearwater heads. Good luck finding a quality machine shop for Mitsu heads that won't screw things up.

So far Johnny Rackley's has been proving they know how to work on mitsu heads kevin has had good luck with them rebuilding 2.6 heads. I guess HD's by my house seem to be a good shop but man i had work done by them and so did tay they have pretty strong opinions about imports and will let you know them from the time you come in untill the time you leave. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> Bill's cylinder head on the other hand is the shop to stay far away from.

My thoughts are what if your heads are good and your block is bad? This is coming from thinking about how a vehicle runs with a separated connecting rod.
Your call though since you actually have the truck to look at and have probably experienced every kind of failure ever on a vehicle so i'm sure you have a good idea.

I am a bit scared of Clearwater heads. I believe my last set was over bored causing my old 3.0 3K rebuild to turn into a gutless, over heating disaster. If we have a good shop to do them....

No guarantees on the block, but it is a gut feeling it is ok. Nothing in the oil, truck was driven around, scoped the cylinders and while not a completely clear picture looks ok.....It is a gamble, but a lot less complicated then finding, putting together, and getting a full engine out here...

We'll use Johnny Rackleys, They haven't failed me yet so far, I've used them twice and clay used them once and seems to do good work. If you want to come over and give me a hand with the heads your welcome to it. We need to get valve stem seals and cam seals front and rear for the heads before we take it to the shop. They will need those.
