My least equipped Rocker was a 1983 with 31s and LSD, but also drove a 1990 similarly equipped. I OPENED the Rincon driving the 83, although I did hike from the Tank Trap area down that trip. It just boils down to a couple of epic storms that washed things away. 33's and a locker should be considered min now, but I was happy to have two lockers and 37's in the difficult spots. The trail was never easy, and in a group lesser equipped rigs can make it, but just may not have as much fun.

Hey Lloyd, not to thread jack, but did you get my PM? This board is a little screwy sometimes.

If not;

I wound up with the transmission that was in your red truck, i've heard info all over the place from a lower stall converter, to a bored out valve body. Any chance you remember the mods done to it? I know i'll have some work to do with it, just trying to get an idea of whats in it.

I dont even see one in my messages. This board is really dying, we need to figure out when to make a coordinated switch to the portal. It had a lower stall toque converter set up supposedly, in the era before just knuckling down and doing gearing right. I dont think we did the valve body. That trans has very few miles on the rebuild I would say. Then again, the first time around the mechanic embezzled the parts and got the money back from the dealer....So who knows.

1996 SR From the Area 51 Skunk Works. 37"BFG Tires, 5" lift, Rock Track 4:1 Case, Tom Woods Drive Shafts, Oasis Air, Front ARB, lifted gas tank, T-max winch and lots of stuff that cost too much.

I figured you didn't get it. Silly wire, I agree on making the switch, it's just tough.

Thanks for the info, that was the same recollection JBFP had. Guess I'll need to burn some sage and get the bad spirits away from the trans. The low stall converter should pair nicely with my turbo diesel.
