The clutch should heal from the water. The brushes in your starter probably stuck, they can be freed up.
If you plan to play in water, tape over the water drains in the bottom of the doors. A little silicone on the door seals and if the rear seat is out put the bolts back in the floor so you do not have 4 little geysers back there.
As with running all your driveline vents up to the top of the firewall, those of up with distributors, run a vent for it as well and coat or seal all the electrics.
You should be able to wade in frighteningly deep water with a dry interior and drive home with no issues.

I have crossed quite a few rivers where I had to close the up stream windows so the water would not wash in. Very interesting driving when you negotiate the boulders by feel. I would say my Red Gen 1 has logged hours of headlight deep water, never a problem other than blown fuses in the electric fans at first. Once they had separate 30A fuses for each fan that was no longer a problem.
