No fuel available in Tincup. The closest stations are in Crested Butte, Aspen, Nathrop, BV, Granite and maybe Marble but i'm not sure. Strategic planning to have lunch in the towns with fuel would make it work. Pickup drivers would probably not object to carrying fuel cans for people. That issue can be overcome.

The Cottonwood Inn on Cottonwood Pass is a decent motel with 3 natural hot spring pools for use by guests. Hot spring pools are great after a day on the trails. The inn is about 8 miles up the pass from BV IIRC.

Looks like yummy rocks on Iron Chest! That one rock caught on the leafs is funny!

I will be slider'd and skid plate'd by then. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />

Possibly 285'd as well, we'll see.

I'd like to hear the story about the rock in the leaf spring also. It looks like it was put there intentionally to compensate for something that broke. I've heard of trail fixes almost as weird as that. Two ratchet straps = RLCA, right Jeff? Why not rock + strap = leaf spring? HA HA!

Too bad 4x4trails.net has been down for a few days. It had great write-ups on several of the trails in the state that could be considered for inclusion by out of state people that might want to come.

I'd be willing to lead or co-lead a less built group on something while the big boys play on Iron Chest. Whenever there is a split of a big group into a 'hardcore' group and an 'easy' group there are always those that want to do hard stuff that really shouldn't. While I think I could do Iron Chest, there will be plenty of other chances for me to do it. I'll be proud to take stockers on something that will challenge their driving skills and provide photo opps of our great scenery and historical landmarks.

There's lots of voices that I'm waiting to hear from. Its time to get the rock rolling so vacation time can be arranged. To a certain extent I have to take the leftovers when it comes to summer vacation time. The sooner I request my time off the more likely I am to get it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Hillbilly]" title="" src="graemlins/notooth.gif" />

Hey Jeff, I was thinking about setting up a Moab trip in the fall. I imagine that there will be quite a few people that would want to go. I think it would be best to split this into two groups also. I was planning on going out there aleast 5 times between now EJS to do some more trails, but I have a new vehicle project that will be taking most of my time. I have a good list of trails for stock vehicles and I have started looking at some trails for the modified group. I'd like to know what you guys think about dates? I'd also like to know how many stock vehicles would be interested?

Moab sounds fun. thats makes it a possible Southwest get together? and maybe allows for a variety of rigs to cruise together you think?

i've never been to a 4x4 get together, but my last trip to moab i saw a jeep rally. it was pretty crazy, but there were stalkers and modified.

my 2cents

peace

I would love to swing out again if it was around the same time in August. If the one work things works out, I may be out there earlier and more flexible, but if it is the same time as last year, it ought to work for me.

Two groups would be cool, someone might have to lead the Marmot around though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Last time was sort of cool to have everyone together, but running tougher stuff in different groups would be cool too, just so long as we camp together.

The southwest corner really makes it a haul for those of coming from the east and north, but helps to cater to those coming from the southwest, hopefully the Arizona crew will come back.

Hey guys, I just found about this site from a link over on Yotatech, where we are talking about this somewhat as well.

I'm definitely interested in this. My rig is a '97, stock, with the factory locker. Will probably have MT/R's on it by the time this rolls around (sooner than later hopefully ... budget depending) so I won't be up for a hardcore run, but I'm a bit past the "improved dirt trail" point too... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="images/icons/grin.gif" />

Anyway I'll keep watching here and on Yota, hope to see you all this summer!

Does no one else have anything to say about this deal??

Jeff, John, Darren, Adrian, Sam, a couple of new guys and I will have a great time without you if that's the case.

Shall I start setting something up with Dodge and Honda guys? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Yawn]" title="" src="graemlins/yawn.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Chicken]" title="" src="graemlins/chicken.gif" />

I'd really enjoy a trip during the summer if that's the time that you all are considering. The wife and I are avid outdoors people and loved Colorado last time we were up there (Grand Junction through Durango, back down through Four Corners and back home). We stayed in a nice little place in Ouray <sp?>. Beautiful country.

I'm in if you all decide on a summer date.

Mike

Heheh.

I like the idea of montezuma area. There are a lot of trails in that area that we could do. (a lot of the ones we did that day in July - Radical Hill, Middlefork of the Swan, Deer Creek, St. Johns Glacier,) I think these trails are a pretty good mix for stockers and some challenging sections for the modified's. But I don't know if they are really "challenging" enough for the modified guys. Personally, they are right up my alley as far as difficulty.

But I'm up for other suggestions.

John
