Yesterday, I hooked up a U-Haul 6x12 open trailer (~1750 lbs) in Charlotte, NC, loaded 2x1250 lb steel racks for a 4,300 lb gross load. After 100 miles, I dropped one rack in Columbia, SC, continued another 75 miles and dropped the other in Augusta, GA, reversed course and pulled the trailer back to Charlotte, drove to Iron Station, NC, loaded 18 steel 55 gal. barrels and returned to Charlotte. I won't say I didn't know the load was behind me, but the Raider handled it fine in 3rd gear at 3800rpm. Total trip was 453 miles at 65mph.
Even with the A/C on and sustained boost at times, the temperature gauge never moved above halfway. The transmission light never came on. The brakes were adequate and the Raider never gave any indication that it didn't like the load.... no rear push.... no bottoming.... it did nothing but pull the load.
I did use a quart of oil and a bunch of gas, though. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
What an amazing little truck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I towed my water tank trailer over hill, dale, and the Sierras with my 4-cyl Raider, moved several large trailers around my landlord's property, and other heavy service that I should have used a 1-ton for. Except for the little brakes and general lack of ponies for the hillclimbs, Roxy was awesome as a tractor and tow vehicle.
Dosh garn goood little trucks!

![[Linked Image]](http://www.lewisfab.com/gallery/montero/towing2.jpg) This is the most I've ever had to tow. Made the ~260 mile round trip 3 or four times one year to the track and back. Putting the smaller tires on helped but I was amazed at how little difference it made. 65 was the key though. With a trailer that long doing 75 made a few scary situations. 60- 65 mph and all was well.
